King of the Castle – Ways to Add Value to your Home

An Englishman’s home is his castle – or so the saying goes! So why not take a leaf out of the books of the Kings and Queens of history and treat your home to a bit of a makeover! Here are a few things that you can do that will increase the value of your home – whether you are thinking of moving on soon, or staying for years to come, you will feel the benefits!

Build an Extension – Extensions are a great way to solve the problem of not having a lot of space without actually having to move to a new house. Adding an extra room to your home can completely change it for the better, as long as it is well planned out and well built. You could install column radiators rather than standard ones to give your room an element of intrigue. You can visit Apollo for column radiators in a variety of sizes and colours. Another option is a conservatory and you will have a whole new room to enjoy. If you have young children a conservatory also doubles up as a great playroom.

Give the Kitchen a Facelift – One of the things that can make or break the sale of a house is the appearance of the kitchen. A good looking, well organised kitchen is much more appealing to buyers than a messy and outdated one. The good news is you can make your kitchen look great for not as much as you think. New cupboard doors and handles can completely transform a kitchen, or you could even sand down and paint the ones that you have. Adding spotlights under kitchen units, and some new tiles will make the kitchen look as if it brand new!

Don’t forget the Bathroom –  A bathroom is another important room when it comes to selling your home and like the kitchen you don’t have to spend a lot to have it looking a great deal better. If you do have the budget for it, the addition of an en-suite is great, but if you are just wanting to spruce up what you already have, you don’t necessarily need a dramatic overhaul. New lighting, towel rails and decorative touches such as a large mirrored wall and new tiles will make your bathroom look new – even if it isn’t!

Front of House – The first thing that you and your visitors will see of your home is the front door and hallway – so don’t overlook them! A fresh lick of paint on the front door and a tidy and well maintained front garden (if you have one) creates a good impression right from the start. Don’t forget the hallway – a light bright and tidy hallway is much nicer to walk into than a cluttered and dark one!
